Empowering Change: SCAN Program Grants $10,000 to Fuel JFSA Essential Services

JFSA is excited to announce that we have been awarded a generous $10,000 grant from SCAN Health Plan, one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit Medicare Advantage plans. SCAN’s dedication to keeping seniors healthy and independent aligns perfectly with our mission, and we are deeply grateful for their support.

The $10,000 grant from SCAN will provide one-time emergency assistance of up to $750 to low-income individuals, 55+ residing in Clark and Nye counties, when no other resources are available. This emergency assistance would be for utilities, housing related assistance, DME, and other basic necessities. The impact of SCAN’s grant is profound, as it helps ensure that vulnerable seniors in our community can remain independent, cared for, and connected to the services they need.

About SCAN Health Plan

SCAN Health Plan’s journey is a unique one. What started as a grassroots movement by 12 senior activists in Long Beach, California in 1977 has grown into one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit Medicare Advantage plans. The founding seniors were determined to improve access to essential services that would allow them to live safely and independently at home. They pushed for a system that could meet their needs, and their advocacy led to the creation of the Long Beach Geriatric Health Care System—later rebranded as SCAN, the Senior Care Action Network.

About JFSA Senior Services

The focus of our programs is to help senior clients remain independent, healthy, and in their own homes for as long as possible, connecting individuals with a variety of services and programs, from in-home care to financial assistance. This grant will help us continue providing these critical Senior Services to the vulnerable seniors in our community.

We are incredibly thankful for SCAN’s partnership and look forward to continuing our shared work of empowering seniors. Together, we are building a future where seniors can live with dignity and independence with access to the resources they need to thrive.
